I visited Atelier International Preschool and Childcare, Magarpatta, Pune, with my teacher trainees and Dr. Madhumati Jagdale as a part of their educational field visit. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication of Dr. Vaishali Thorat , The Principal of the school who gave us an insightful guided tour of the entire school from Pre-nursery upto K-2.
She explained how impactful Reggio Emilia approach of Early Childhood Education contributes to the holistic development of children. This Italian philosophy emphasizes the image of the child as a capable and curious learner, actively constructing knowledge through exploration and experimentation. The environment becomes the "third teacher," meticulously designed to stimulate senses, encourage interaction, and inspire creativity. Vaishali also showed our teacher aspirants how documentation plays a crucial role in understanding individual children's learning journeys and tailoring the educational process accordingly.
